Rodrigo D'Alcântara: Self-declarations
Curated by Mariana Destro 11.12—12.6.2020

“Self-declarations” emerges from the exercise of a dissident rescue of ancestry, which inevitably arises as Rodrigo D'Alcântara invokes the faces and presence of his ancestors seeking to subvert patriarchal genealogy. Through digital images and photo-collages that arise from Rodrigo's family personal archive, the artist acknowledges his syncretic roots in a series of bixa body gestures that emphasize historical erasure processes.
